FOLLOWING the devastating passing of 2 much-loved staff members within just 2 years, Victoria Leisure Club on the Promenade in Southport surpassed their charitable goal.

The staff team wanted to recognise both individuals in a fitting way and did so through a tribute Gala Evening at the end of April, which was a stunning success in their memory.

In late 2023, a long-standing team member who was at the core of Victoria’s classes programme of 30 years, Chrissie Carroll, lost her fight to cancer.

In late 2025, Isabella Clark, a young woman of 21 who radiated amazing talent as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer suffered a sudden collapse, and did not recover consciousness.

The 2 charities of Pancreatic Cancer UK, and CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) will share circa £3,200 raised by members and staff, and former class attendees at this event.

Staff and members in 2024 had also raised funds following Chrissie’s late 2023 passing.

The Gala evening at the Bold Hotel on Lord Street in Southport town centre was a huge success.

Some class members at Victoria Leisure, and 3 of the Victoria team are pictured with the proceeds cheque.

Organisers of the event said:- “We’d like to say a massive thank you to all prize donors, supporters and also our live entertainers, Kelly Bond, John Parry and Matt Robinson.”
